Yes, there was a recent physical release on the Switch. The game is on several systems, but only Switch got a physical release. It was a small "limited run" release by Special Reserve Games, and Limited Run Games also collaborated on it. This is the link to the Special Reserve version: https://specialreservegames.com/pages/games-hlmc
Unfortunately, because it was a limited run release, it sold out and now resells for around $60+ on ebay. The good news is it also comes with Hotline Miami 2. Hotline Miami is considered the better game of the two, but HM2 is good too and nice to have. After beating Hotline Miami, a few months later I was itching for more time with it (something that rarely happens to me after beating a game), so it's nice to have HM2.
Also, I know you hate digital downloads - but that's another good option. Hotline Miami often goes on sale for $5 or less on the PS4 store. It's normal price is $10. It's really hard to turn it down at those prices. That's how I played it - on PS4 with the digital download. The download is available on Switch, Xbox One, PS3, and Vita too.
