Yes, there was a recent physical release on the Switch. The game is on several systems, but only Switch got a physical release. It was a small "limited run" release by Special Reserve Games, and Limited Run Games also collaborated on it. This is the link to the Special Reserve version: https://specialreservegames.com/pages/games-hlmc

Unfortunately, because it was a limited run release, it sold out and now resells for around $60+ on ebay. The good news is it also comes with Hotline Miami 2. Hotline Miami is considered the better game of the two, but HM2 is good too and nice to have. After beating Hotline Miami, a few months later I was itching for more time with it (something that rarely happens to me after beating a game), so it's nice to have HM2.

Also, I know you hate digital downloads - but that's another good option. Hotline Miami often goes on sale for $5 or less on the PS4 store. It's normal price is $10. It's really hard to turn it down at those prices. That's how I played it - on PS4 with the digital download. The download is available on Switch, Xbox One, PS3, and Vita too. For more info on why we liked the game, this was the forum discussion: https://videogamecritic.com/forums/view ... 12&t=12779

Also, for PS4 and Vita, it looks like there was a limited run release for Japan. It sells for like $40-ish on ebay, so it's a bit cheaper than the Switch version. But not sure if it's English-friendly. Probably not worth the risk though.

People are also selling Switch digital codes on ebay for $10, like this one, which is another option if you don't like to buy directly on your console: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hotline-Miami- ... 4323512888?

I've heard that it works with the default language on your PS4 or Vita. The problem is the included copy of Hotline Miami 2 is digital only and it has to be activated on a Japanese PSN account.

It's funny my wife and I were chatting the other day on how we'll actually be able to go trick or treating with our 4 year old daughter. She wants to be Cinderella for Halloween. I'll be a mouse of some sort. My wife will be the fairy godmother. Of course, this will all change in between now and October.

Logistics wise I'm not so sure I want us going door to door meeting all of our neighbors for treats. And I'm pretty sure I don't want to see a bunch of kids out my front door unless I can fling them candy via a catapult or a slingshot.

Anyone got any ideas on how trick or treating will actually work this fall with Covid?

For anyone interested in Hotline Miami on physical media, today is probably the best chance you'll get.  The game is getting an extremely limited release (around 3000 copies total) by Special Reserve Games, and Limited Run Games will also be selling the game (with a variant cover).  Here's the links:

https://specialreservegames.com/hotline ... s4-single/

https://limitedrungames.com/collections ... -miami-ps4

They're also selling Hotline Miami 2 (if you only try one, go with HM1).  Considering that their Switch version of Hotline Miami sold out in about 3 minutes earlier this summer, the best bet is to be logged in and ready to buy immediately.

FYI, while the game is sold out at Special Reserve, it's still in stock as of now at Limited Run Games. I went ahead and ordered the first one.
