Polymega

Postby matmico399 » July 28th, 2020, 4:41 pm

Is anyone familiar with this new system? Does anybody know anyone who has it. I am intrigued because it says it can play CD ROMs from mini systems including the Sega Saturn, Sega CD, turbo graphics 16 CD neo Geo CD.

I just did a quick search and Walmart has it for preorder, of all places!

It's not cheap though. Looks like $400 for the base unit, and $80 for additional ones...

This thing had better kick ass

Very cool looking. Never heard of it, so thanks for sharing. I have the US versions of these systems, so the main draw for me would be consolidating everything into one console. Now if they would just add Jaguar CD, then I might be pre-ordering one right now..

Much more interested in the Analogue Pocket. I don't have much respect for the Retroblox/Polymega.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right. As working disc-based consoles become harder to find (Sega CD, Turbo Duo, Jaguar CD) this system could fill a growing need.

Does anybody know if the original controllers are supported, or will we be required to use the Polymega versions? It looks like they have their own Genesis pad, Turbografx controller, etc.

It looks like you can with the associated module. Watching one of the YouTube videos from the beta testers they said you could use an original Genesis pad with the Genesis module.

This thing looks like it may be a good investment. Hands-on review of the base unit testing various CDs from the supported platforms.
