"I really love the simple premise, and you ability to hurl food in a rapid-fire manner is immensely satisfying."

I'm guessing you meant "your ability to hurl food" but you should change it to "the ability to hurl food".

I don't have this particular version of Centipede, instead an Arcade port on the PC but it is indeed one of the best retro games out there.  Personally I way prefer it to Pac-man, something about Pac-man never really gelled with me.

Bluemonkey-I thought the 7800 versions of Asteroids and CENTIPEDE were BETTER than the coin-ops. Expecially Centipede, some complain about the big screen border and slightly different graphics, but a careful look will show that these are MORE detailed than the coin-op, and for once the 7800 sound effects are really good too! Most impressive are the two player play and how it handles with a trackball! I can't believe the VGC only thought the Tball was"ok", it MAKES the game! Unlike the 2600 centipede (which moves at the same speed regardless of the controller) the Tball really zooms your gun around! I also appreciate the novice, intermidiate and difficult modes. It is easily one of the top 5 7800 games, up there with Ms.Pac-Man and Asteroids!

I just played the 7800 Ms. Pac-Man again last night. After playing SNES Ms. Pac-Man for a week, I have to say I don't see why everyone says the 7800 ms. Pac is the best- for coin-op fidelity on 8-bit, I would say the XE Ms.Pac was better! The graphics are very blocky, the controls are terrible and worst of all the SOUND is simply TERRIBLE!....instead of "waka waka waka" we get "BLOIP BLOIP BLOIP!", the fruit sounds like a crusher at work instead of "Thump-thump", and the monsters , when blue, make this irritating "oooooh-oooooh-ooooh-oooh-oooh!" sound! The colors, details and intermissions are okay but really, I'll take Atari XE, or even the 2600 over this, not to mention the arcade perfect NAMCO collection versions and 16-bit Genesis/SNES (which, as I said, are better than the coin-op!)

Sorry Atarifever! (it's still a top 5 game FOR THE SYSTEM)

My best friend Steve loved this game and I admit it was a great idea and a great game but for me it was just too damn HARD!

Wow, a review from 2006, I was a lot um...younger back then.

Food Fight arcade used to be my Holy Grail, I had such great memories of it as a kid playing it in the arcades in 1983, and hadn’t played in since. Then not too long after this review came out in 2006, Food Fight came out as a downloadable on X-Box. My son and I played it a ton and I enjoyed it but the magic of that game is now gone. It’s great to play the old arcade hits, but sometimes it’s nice just to have the memories.

And if I’m not mistaken, the games reviewed: Centipede, Food Fight, and Pac-Man Collection got an A, and Ms. Pac-Man got an A-. That’s like the Steelers 1974 draft, 4 Hall of Famers drafted in the first 5 rounds (Jack Lambert, Lynn Swann, Mike Webster, John Stallworth).

Has the VGC before or since given out three A’s for a set of reviews let alone four? I have done the math by making up numbers arbitrarily and I can say with confidence the chances of VGC giving out four A’s for one set of reviews is 3,720 to 1. And I know, never tell VGC the odds.
