You refer to Double Dunk as Double Dribble in the 3rd paragraph.
Both of these sound like interesting titles that would be worth playing!

According to Youtube, a double dunk is the holy grail of basketball, where you'd somehow score twice before your feet touch the ground. And there's been some pretty clever ways to achieve it, even if they're all cheating.
None of which makes it into this game.
Still, the screenshots always looked so clean and aesthetic. Compared to the original basketball game, it really shows off how far the system had come.

Urban Dictionary has its own definition of a double dunk, but I doubt it is what Atari had in mind.

Big fan of Double Dunk here and this may be a case of where your updated review isn't as good or useful as the original. Of course, I can only remember the "funky dance" of the victors observation from the original but there are some important details omitted from the update:
1. In addition to uniform color, you can also customize the game on things like game length, 3 second violations and foul detection
2. There are 3 point shots AND free throws awarded for defensive fouls
3. Sure, you can enter a prearranged play but the real fun is just freelancing it
I know that I am coming across as overly-sensitive but I consider Double Dunk the most underrated 2600 game of all-time and it needs more love! It came late in the life span of the VCS but I'd take it any day over EA's famous One-on-One basketball game.

That's not quite the image I needed this morning. Funny though.

Sixam lol.
Power Lords sounds very interesting. And those graphics for a 2600 game with that reptile. I'm going to have to check this one out. Solid review.

A reader pointed out that Power Lords was actually designed to promote a toy line (like the comic) so I updated the review.
Teddybear - I may have to revisit Double Dunk. I didn't even know you could "freelance" your plays! I'll play it with a few friends and perhaps update the review.
