Sony is closing the PS3 and Vita games stores, which apparently means the digital content including patches will no longer be available.

I still have a few PS3 games on my "backlog," I'm going to put them all in ASAP and try to get any updates needed.

Man, that's disappointing. I don't have a huge PS3 collection, but this will definately be bad for future PS3 collecting. I mean, if I see a PS3 game that I want to buy, I will no longer be able to apply an update to it if it was needed.
I wonder how many PS3 games require patches that are essential to the enjoyment of the game?

Sony has reversed the decision to close the PS3 and Vita stores (for now), and patches seem to be available:
