2023/9/27: Neo Geo: Sengoku, Sengoku 2

Postby VideoGameCritic » September 27th, 2023, 7:14 pm

Got two Neo Geo updates for your reading enjoyment. Senkogu is a great side-scrolling brawler series.

Sengoku went from a D+ to a C. Sengoku 2 went from a B+ to B.

Note the Sengoku 2 review is no longer a CD review. For now on I'm going to combine the two.

I will be re-reviewing Sengoku 3 soon.

Thoughts?

Nice! I love the upgrade for Sengoku. I liked it. Can’t wait for the Sengoku 3 re-review. It’s a sick game. I love the graphics like on the Italy stage. That was one game I just had to splurge and get on MVS. No regrets.

Nice updates!

I have 2 for NG-CD, and 3 for MVS. Really need to track down the first game one of these days.

Who doesn't like a good Beat em' up?

With the unbelievable scenery from the movie Napoleon depicting France around 1800, it made me think about video game scenery. And I think the Neo Geo has a lot of great graphics depicting the past. The first 2 Sengoku games are amazing at showing backgrounds from hundreds of years ago. There’s also the Samurai Shodown games which take place several centuries ago. Even though Sengoku 3 takes place in the time it was released, I always felt the Italy stage did a great job of showing how Venice looked like going way back.
