Gamecube games on the Wii? With Wii controls?

Postby Adamant1 » January 8th, 2009, 8:38 pm
I think Nintendo should put some new IP's out there which is something that is painfully lacking from the Big N's lineup.
I keep hearing this, and I still don't get the logic behind it. Nintendo has more big-name IPs than any other game publisher out there, and they're still putting out new ones at a steady basis. You Americans just got Maboshi last week, even, and it's getting massive praise all over the line.

I feel Nintendo are doing this due to the success of Resident Evil 4 and also the large Wii audience. They can resell games they never sold to people who didn't buy a GameCube. They can also release these and say they are releasing "hardcore gamer" games which they have acknowledged there is a lack of at the moment.

The thing is, Resident Evil 4 sold extremely well, Okami (from the same company let us not forget) didn't. Although that was true on their original platforms also. All I am saying is that a quick and dirty re-release doesn't neccesary gather lots of sales for little work.

I'm all for it, I intend to pick up the Metroid Prime rereleases with the improved controls and widescreen ability. Hope they do Wind Waker in the next phase.

I'm just angry at you for giving in to Nintendo for so little.  They're only going to give you as much as they have to give to make enough money. - fragnox

This is sick, really it is. Good grief! I think I have to write a(nother?) letter to dear Abby now!

Are you seriously responding to what I said or using your oh-so-wonderful sarcasm towards my remark about Nintendo?

If you're talking to me, I have nothing to say to you.  Because there's nothing sick about that.

If you're talking about what I said about Nintendo, I never said it was sick.  It pisses me off.  But Nintendo is a business and so it'd be stupid to call them sick for doing their job and making money.  Mark my words, I know it's the smart thing for Nintendo to do and to do otherwise would be stupid.

Just because it's a fact of life doesn't mean I have to like/accept it.

how about a down loadable patch that would let us play the original Prime with updated controls?  Didn't Sony do this with Lair... except adding traditional controls?

I liked Prime, I'd probably like it even better with a new control scheme, but I ain't gonna buy it again.  Better controls won't fix Echoes

I'm a little interested in these Wii-releases of Gamecube games.  I won't re-buy any that I already own on the Cube (Metroids and Pikmins), but Mario Tennis may be worth a look.  I heard they're really redoing the controls and it will control more like Wii Tennis, but with an option to use the nunchuk to control the player movement.  It might be worth $30, but probably not $50.
Also, I have been playing my Wii more and more recently.  Granted, '08 was a relatively weak year for Wii games (especially released by Nintendo), but I still like playing it.
I picked up RE4 for $13 used and I'm playing that one through again (since I originally beat the GC version...and it's possibly my favorite game ever!).  I got my Wii online and I downloaded World of Goo and Orbient (thanks for the recommendation, Steer) and recently Maboshi's Arcade.  I really like Tiger Woods '09, but I've been into RE4 recently and haven't played it much.  Also, Shaun White is fun and new!  Someone said on here that controls don't matter, but I disagree.  Playing a snowboarding game with an analog stick or playing with the balance board makes the experience completely different.  I will be picking up Skate It! soon too for some more balance board fun.
