I think I had a plug and play with it, but it was 8-way like the rest of the ports.

My problem was hitting literally anything. The bases around the space station, the squadrons, etc. At one point I think I was decent at it, and maybe I'm just not interested enough to get good again.

Reconsider your review of Namco Museum 50th Anniversary (Playstation 2)
The xbox compliations I make use the Coinops system "Vision".
The reason for the compliation is to be able to play ANY pac-man, ms. pacman, jr. pac-man, or super pac-man variation across the different consoles.
My compilation has neat intro cartoons, intro video game previews.
So you could play Atari 2600 pac-man, then play some atari 5200 ms. pacman, then switch to pac-man collection for atari 7800. Then you could try out some nintendo (nes) pac-man, and then ms. pacman for super nintendo. Then you could try the colecovision opcode port of pac-man, or try out the playstation 1 (psx) namco museum. And then you might like to try gameboy color's version of ms. pac-man.
You get the idea? That's why I made it...for people to sample different pac-man games across different consoles. Of course the arcade (mame) versions are in there also.

Namco Museum and Namco Museum 50th I've played on both Xbox (classic), and Gamecube.
I know it is a good emulation when a cherry pattern I use goes through the red ghost (blinky). Namco 50th gets it right. The other parts of the game are just filler to me-I care about the quality of the port.
Recently, opcode games made a perfect pac-man version for colecovision that has the code intact.
Recently I played Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness for Dreamcast, and in your review you stated that the classic ms. pac-man was 'arcade perfect'. I'm afraid that is not true. The classic ms. pacman in that resembles the same 'simulation' of pac-man that is done in n64, or playstation 1.
Another perfect emulation is Gameboy advance Pac-Man Collection. The sound is a bit off in that, however. The zoomed out version doesn't look very nice tho, and the zoomed in mode might not interest certain people. The cherry pattern go through red ghost is intact.
