Mr. Do! Diamond

Since I can easily get all ten "stages" on the arcade version of Mr. Do!, I have, for the past 3 months off and on, been trying to get the diamond to appear. I know it is rare, but geeze louise! I have now played Mr.Do! 1,238 times (really!) and not GOTTEN ONE DIAMOND! I got one (it randomly apprears after the last apple is dropped) after I first got the game a year ago, on my third game, ad again a dozen games later...but lately as I have bee trying, nothing , nothing, NOTHING! Questions: Since the coin-op gives free games for a diamond, does it get "harder" to find the more you aquire (how would it know if the machine was unplugged?) ?
And do apples dropped during "red time" when you get the treat count, and do the apples the blue guys turn into (and letters) also have to be dropped (I've been dropping them all). I'm sure this sounds like gibberish to non-Mr.Do! fans, but those who Do the Do, let me know! thanks!

I did some quick research (meaning like 2 mins) and everything mentioned that it appears 'at random'. If I were you, search for something like 'Mr. Do fanpage'...and I bet there's some discussion regarding this.

This is very important to you, huh?

I finally got another diamond! Just yesterday, on the third stage! Whew! Yes, it was important because on my Colecovision version of the game you got a diamond almost every other game, I had no idea the coin-op was so stingy! Getting a diamond in Mr.Do! (coin -op) is like winning a lottery. I think the odds are about 100 to one!
