There's a place for always online games, as long as they're online multiplayer only. World of Warships for instance holds no value once it's offline, since the entire game is centered around playing others. It's no loss that it can't be utilized when the servers are closed down, since the game ceases to exist anyways at that point.
It's stuff like The Crew that bugs me. A fine single player mode that's actually the meat of the game, but it's useless once the servers get shuttered since it's tied to an always online mandate. Sometimes it's even worse, with 100% single player experiences still saddled with this requirement (Like Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 on the PS3).
