Leo, know of any good websites that weigh the pros and cons for each version of a multiplatform game you'd recommend?  I've always gone with the Xbox version first followed by the gamecube and then the PS2 lastly if that was my only choice.  IGN always ran comparisons but you had to fork over $20 to read the full comparisons between the three.

Actually, PS2 was my favorite system for this generation. I'm no Sony fanboy, but I certainly planned to get a PS3 over whatever Nintendo released until I heard some more about them.

P.S. i just got my new Toshiba HD DVD player for $400 bucks.  I worry about the future of Blu Ray.

I'd just read reviews, IGN and GameSpot, while they have their problems, usually will mention in the review some pros and cons for each version, such as frame rate stuttering in Need For Speed Underground on the Xbox (I should've listened, rented it for the GameCube and enjoyed it besides the cut scenes and the drift racing, then bought the Xbox version when it got cheap and haven't touched it since because the stuttering annoyed me).

Any game that required dual sticks the control pretty much sucked on Cube.  That's all FPS, most third person action games and a number of other titles.

 

The only thing on Cube to come out this year I want is Zelda.  There were only a couple of titles last year.  It's been a joke.

i didnt buy many cube 3rd party titles, mostly xbox, but the few that only had cube/ps2 as a choice (mega man collection for instance), i got the cube version

This question just popped into my head...

 

Is the PS3 really doing bad or are is the success of the other two systems making it look worse than it really is?

 

The PS3 really isn't in any worse shape than the 360 was at launch...I just think that the Wii is off to a good start and the 360 has started to hit its stride.

Right now there is an obvious backlash against the PS3...there aren't enough systems out,its too expensive, blue ray sucks...yada yada yada. 

I agree with you that Sony is fine and that they are moving systems as fast as they can get them into stores, but it gets lost in all the positive press that the 360 and Wii are getting.  People make it sound like the PS3 is knocking on heaven's door and it jus t launched.

If the Wii wasn't getting rave reviews I think the PS3 wouldn't be taking such a huge backlash from the media and some of the public.

Timesplitters 2 was still fun, but other than that I agree with you. It's a good thing Nintendo did away with the C-stick, because it blows. The Gamecube had about 12 games that I cared about, and all but RE4 were made by Nintendo. Any 3rd party games I got on Xbox, although once I sold the Xbox I did generally pick the Cube version over the PS2 version, unless control could be affected by the button layout, which happened with Soul Caliber 2 and Madden. I didn't regret buying the Gamecube, but I didn't miss it that much when my brother took it to college. I could probably find 20 great Gamecube exclusive games if I tried, but that is ridiculously low compared to the amount of great games I can find on PS2.
