Ridge Racer 6 is very cheap, but since I didn't play it, I'd go with Burnout Revenge. Plus, it's not too expensive either, going for about $30 or so nowadays.

I greatly prefer Ridge Racer 6 to Burnout Revenge. While Ridge Racer 6 has its flaws (the single player portion of the game is huuuge and gets quite unfair later in the game) it is much more of an actual racer than Burnout Revenge which has gone down the destruction derby route. In BR you can get away with plowing into tons of cars (getting kills for them) and when you boost it often gets too crazy fast for precision driving. I just felt like the series went downhill after the perfect Burnout 2. RR on the other hand still has the great speed from the boosts but there is more strategy about their use and you still have to race properly and can't get away with hitting opponents like you can in BR. BR probably has more players online but there are still people online on RR too. There's also the fact that RR is visually a game that the PS3 can't quite pulloff at the moment
(RR7 which is basicly the same game with a few extra tracks looks worse). At the end of the day RR6 is a real treat if you were a fan of previous RR games with tons of throwbacks to previous titles. In my opinion it took Ridge Racer Type 4's crown.

Perhaps so, but would you agree that even it focus on the racing more than something like Full Auto (a game that basically forgets it's a racer)?

Absolutely agree with that. But Full Auto is more about the guns and explosions. I loved the Full Auto demo for the destruction and mayhem (I've since put an order in for it). But without weaponry that renders BR as limited in that regard. Plus Full Auto's unwreck and things like mines add some strategy to that game that just ramming opponents from behind lacks.
