The Gamecube has almost sold as many units as the Atari 2600???? That's hard to believe. Everybody had a 2600. I know like three people with a cube.

I would like to say that I have had to buy 3 PS2's so I think those numbers are misleading because they can't build a video game system worth a sh*t.

Actually, that site has been maligned on numerous other forums for being inaccurate.  They don't attempt to line-up reported sales figures with the dates they were reported.  For that matter, there's some question to just how they are getting the figures.  I wouldn't go mentioning that site as proof of anything.

Atari 2600 numbers are probably most accurate only for the West.  The system was never popular in big-selling Japan.  Since we are dealing Gamecube's numbers worldwide, it includes the higher selling figures for the Gamecube there.

Even if the numbers are just estimates the poll results for which console will win is interesting.  Thanks for the link Math

Data is from a site called consolewars...it's a nice little site.

Crevalle, not that you'd ever do a dishonest thing and post inaccurate numbers but how about the exact link within consolewars and we can run it through google's translation webservice as I don't read German too well?
